My week in Guatemala far exceeded my expectations. Every day brought meaningful interactions and learning opportunities at the hospital and while volunteering at Virgen del Socorro. A particularly impactful moment was having the opportunity to shadow in the operating room. It was my first time witnessing surgeries up close, and the experience was both fascinating and eye-opening. I learned so much about medical procedures and patient care in a high-intensity environment, which further reinforced my passion for the healthcare field. One of the highlights of my trip was also hiking Pacaya Volcano. I’d never witnessed anything like it before—it felt as if I had stepped into another world.
